THE EVENTS SCHEDULE
THE FORMAT
The VietCredit 2020 Championships is designed to be a fast paced and exciting experience for all participants and spectators alike. The game format features short game times that push players to their limit, while still allowing them to be able to play safely. In total, it is possible to play a maximum of 9 games in a single day which means that in a team could play up to 180 minutes (2 full games) in 1 day.
Furthermore, the Double Elimination format gives every team a second chance. No matter where you lose during the tournament, you still have the opportunity to win it all. For example, if you lose during the 1st round, you can still win the entire tournament, as long as you win your next 8 games.
Your team of up to 12 players, will need to be prepared to play, and the losers bracket of the tournament is extremely tough. If you want to make it through the losers bracket, you could play up to 6 games in a row. So playing extremely smart, using all your players effectively, and minimizing energy spent will be key.
We guarantee you have never been in a competition like this, and it will truly put your team to the test!
FAQ’s
Q: How many games will we play?
A: The possible number of games is between 2 and 9. This is dependent on if/when your teams loses in the tournament format. Based on when you lose, will determine how many possible games you have to play. This could involve multiple games being played “back to back”.
Q: How long are the games?
A: The games are scheduled to be approximately 20 minutes each in total. The actual playing time is completely centered around the schedule, but regular time will end at least 5 minutes before the next scheduled game. This means that you might play shorter amounts of time in a game. The referee is completely in control of this, and his word is final regardless of how long each half is. No protests will be heard if the half is longer or shorter than the estimated allocated time. For more information regarding this, please see the rules for the tournament.
If penalties are needed to declare a winner, there may be no break before the next game. In this event, teams must go directly to their next game and start immediately after the game finishes. Failure to do this may result in a penalty. Please see the rules for more details.
Q: Why are the games so quick?
A: Have you ever tried to play 180 minutes of competitive football in a day? The VietCredit 2020 Championships format gives you enough time to score, show your strength, and stay on top of your game. It also allows you to potentially play the most teams possible, and have a great time in a competition format that is fast paced and exciting.
In actuality, The APFT has been running this type of of game format in multiple countries and for the last 10 years. It is well tested, and is for the mutual benefit of all teams. If your team makes it past the 4th game, you will understand. Especially if you are in the losers bracket.
Q: How many players can I have on my team, and can I change players during the event?
A: You are allowed 12 players on a team. You are not allowed to change players on your team during the qualifiers, before or during the finals. The players that registered for your team at the beginning of the tournament are the only ones allowed to play all the way through. No exception will be made unless it is before the first game of your qualifying round or the organizer decides otherwise.
Q: What kind of prizes are there?
A: Every participant will receive a certificate of participation. The winning team of each Qualifying event will receive a trophy, a place in the Finals, and new uniforms. Once in the Finals, all players will receive certificates. The top 3 teams in the finals will receive a trophy and medals.
There will also be other awards for individual players, and the possibility of other prizes that are not announced before the tournament.
Q: Do you offer a cash prize?
A: In our experience, most events that offer cash prizes for amateur players are not in the best interest and fairness of all teams. They do not represent the spirit and magic that sports represents, and often inspire an attitude that does not match with the goals of the organizer, partners, sponsors, and the majority of participants.
However, we may or may not elect to offer prizes that are not officially announced before the competition begins.
Q: What happens if my team is tired, injured, or cant make it to the field on time?
A: No one said this would be easy… You hold the keys to your destiny, and the schedule is set and will not be delayed unless another games runs late due to penalties.
You must manage your team, and lead them through the competition in a professional way to best ensure your team is prepared to play every game following the schedule. You can read the rules for more information about the requirements for players, team, and scheduling complications.
